SMSL D100 High-Res DAC & Balanced Headphone Amplifier
A reference desktop masterpiece. Delivering 400mW of balanced power driven by a premium ESS ES9081 chip, XMOS XU-316 decoding, and an auxiliary phone-protection power loop.
Six Core Pillars of Audio Excellence
ESS ES9081 DAC
Implements ESS Technology's high-grade chip, delivering ultra-low distortion down to 0.00036%.
Balanced Audio Stage
Equipped with high-power 4.4mm balanced and 6.35mm outputs, outputting up to 400mW @ 32Ω.
XMOS XU-316 Processing
True 32-bit USB asynchronous transfer supporting native DSD512 and PCM up to 768kHz.
Aux Phone-Protection Power
Dedicated Type-C auxiliary power port bypasses phone battery drain for clean, steady operation.
MQA & MQA-CD Unfolding
Supports full studio-master decoding across USB, Optical, and Coaxial inputs.
1.66" Laminated Screen
Smartphone-grade full-lamination tempered glass screen panel with high optical clarity.
Pristine Audio Resolution from ESS ES9081 Silicon
Symphonic depth meets pocket-sized desktop convenience. The SMSL D100 balanced headphone amplifier and DAC incorporates ESS Technology's high-performance ES9081 processor, achieving an exceptionally low total harmonic distortion of 0.00036% (-108dB). Matched with multiple low-noise voltage regulators, the analog signal path remains quiet, allowing micro-details and room acoustics to emerge naturally.
True Balanced Amplification & Dual Headphone Drive
Drive any monitor or earphone with ease. The D100 houses a fully balanced analog headphone amplification stage, outputting up to 400mW x 2 into 32 ohms. Equipped with both a reference 4.4mm balanced jack and a standard 6.35mm single-ended output, the device is designed to handle demanding dynamic loads while retaining precise stereo separation and zero channel crosstalk.
No-Drain Smartphone Power Protection Loop
Engineered for modern mobile sources. When connecting the D100 directly to your smartphone, standard USB DACs can rapidly drain your phone's battery. The D100 solves this with a dedicated Type-C auxiliary power port. Connecting any standard 5V power supply to this port bypasses your phone's power output entirely, supplying clean, stable electrical energy directly to the DAC stage while keeping your smartphone battery fully protected.
Interactive Audio Filter Matrix
Personalize your sonic characteristics on the fly. The built-in DSP processing allows you to select from eight distinct PCM filters (FL0 to FL7) to calibrate the transient decay of your music:
Select between crisp, fast-decaying high frequency roll-offs to bring out leading edges, or relaxed, slow-roll offs to soften dynamic peaks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the D100 feature an auxiliary power input (AUX POWER) port? +
When connecting the D100 directly to a smartphone, the phone's built-in USB power output is often insufficient. Connecting an external 5V power supply to this auxiliary Type-C port ensures stable, uninterrupted DAC performance while protecting your phone's battery from drain or damage.
What is the benefit of the ESS ES9081 DAC chip? +
The ES9081 is a premium-tier decoder achieving a THD+N as low as 0.00036% (-108dB). It excels in dynamic detail retrieval, presenting vocals and high frequencies with realistic, uncolored textures over a clean, dark noise floor.
Does the headphone amplifier support both 4.4mm and 6.35mm connections? +
Yes, it does. The D100 features a fully balanced analog headphone amplification circuit, outputting up to 400mW x 2 into 32 ohms via the 4.4mm balanced jack, and also offers a standard 6.35mm single-ended headphone jack.
What is the advantage of the GFF laminated IPS color panel? +
Glass-Film-Film (GFF) lamination technology eliminates internal air gaps between the screen and the tempered glass. This improves optical transmittance, reduces reflection glare, and enhances contrast, letting you read track and filter parameters clearly in bright desktop environments.
Does the D100 support full MQA and MQA-CD decoding? +
Yes. Full MQA decoding is supported over USB, Optical, and Coaxial digital inputs, allowing you to unfold studio-master level MQA streams and MQA-CDs flawlessly.
